The Side Hustle

Every now and then in your career, you find yourself working a side hustle (or side job/moonlighting) outside of your normal 9-5 kind of job. Usually, it's in your regular field of expertise and other times it's not.

This blog isn't what I'd call my regular field of expertise. I am an accountant (aka bean counter) by trade and have been at it for years, as noted in this post.

Over the years, I've dabbled in various side hustles. Web design, crafting and running a non-profit come to mind. NONE of those have ever been profitable and certainly don't pay well, if at all. Accounting, on the other hand, is my fall back side hustle. It's what I know and depending on the client, it can pay well.

Currently, I have a side hustle that's keeping me busy on what would normally be my days off, along with a few thousand other things that are happening, like becoming un-stuffed. Unfortunately, it's interfering with my writing, so getting a blog post written in a timely manner, then getting it tweaked just right for publication isn't my highest priority, but I'm trying.

Side hustles can be fun but they may keep one busy. Some people might even call your side hustle a hobby. Do you have you a side hustle? Is it a hobby or something more? Do you want to make a career out of it or is it within your regular field?
